Good morning! Starting this day at a blistering 44 degrees, headed for 74. Yesterday’s beautiful sundog told us that today would be a really warm day (picture included, sundog on left). But it looks like you might want to get your winter jammies out before the weekend. Old Man Winter is about to announce himself in style! It would be amazing if I could just lose weight numbers like the thermometer is about to lose temperature numbers!
Well, how you doing today? Have you already seen God’s amazing grace speak into your life? If not, open your eyes and ears to what is going on around you – God is always at work, we just have to learn to see or feel His presence and accept His presents.
Watch for that opportunity to speak God’s peace into the life of someone who is struggling today. Speak words of strength to the one who needs to make a difficult decision. Speak words of joy to the person who sees only the gloom and doom. However, remember to ask God for wisdom per Mr. James’ advice (James 1:5) before you have such conversations.
To not ask the Holy Spirit for His wisdom just before you begin giving advice to someone else, is kind of like turning off your headlights while driving at midnight. Let’s be honest friends, no one need to know what I think of any situation they might be facing, but we all need to know what the Holy Spirit has to speak into our lives all day, every day!
And just so we are clear, we also need His wisdom when someone is giving us advice, or we are reading a book, listening to the news, or just having a conversation with friends. It seems to me that we should really ask for the Lord’s wisdom anytime we are on the computer. Remember my friends, more information is not always our friend. It would appear that there are times that we just need to stop gathering information and start applying what we already have.
If I need to take our car to the mechanic, I trust that he has the knowledge of what to do, and to tools to accomplish the needed task. To me, that’s wisdom – knowing what needs to be said or done and then depending upon the Spirit of God to give me the tools needed to accomplish that which He is revealing to me. Much like a good mechanic, Christians need the right tools for the right job. Your Bible is such a tool box!
Suggestion, spend this next month reading the book of Proverbs. One proverb per day: read, study, apply. A very simple process that will help each of us to have clear biblical wisdom to apply within our private lives, and biblical wisdom to share in our public lives. So, mark your calendar for November 1 – “Start Proverbs Study.”
Seeking God’s wisdom with you, Neal
